Golden Shino Stein
This stein has one of those surfaces I can aim for but not quite control. The red shino was applied thickly, with finger-swiped marks through the glaze before wood ash was added over the surface. In the firing, the lower part of the cup moved toward orange-red, while the upper surface darkened and broke into gold, gray, and ash-speckled patches. In places, the surface almost glows. That luster is not something I can make happen exactly. I can only give the kiln the conditions and see what comes back.
