Weathered Ash Yunomi
This yunomi began with white shino glaze and a few lines pulled through the wet surface with my fingers. Wood ash was then sifted over the cup, settling into and across those marks. In the firing, the ash softened the lines rather than sharpening them, leaving a pale gray-green surface with speckling, small glassy runs, and warmer breaks near the foot. The marks are still there, but they’ve been weathered by the firing. I find I like that. The restraint feels right for this piece.

Wheel-thrown stoneware with white shino glaze, finger-swiped lines, and a wood ash surface, fired to cone 10 in reduction. The ash and shino respond differently depending on thickness, placement in the kiln, and the movement of the firing, so each piece carries a slightly different record of the process. 4" tall, 16 oz capacity. Food safe, dishwasher safe. Ships carefully wrapped within 5-7 days.
