Hakeme Yunomi — Amber
This one pushed the hakeme technique as far as I've taken it. Slip laid on extra thick, then a rib dragged through it while still wet — the ridges you see are the ridges you feel, raised and tactile all the way around. It's the most physical of the series, the most deliberately marked.
I glazed the outside in a new amber celadon I've been developing. What came back from the kiln was better than I expected — that deep golden warmth, almost luminous, the slip ridges catching the light differently at every angle. The interior is a soft satin white. I'd like to tell you I can reliably get this color again. I can't. This firing, this glaze thickness, this kiln — it came together once.
