White Ash Zigzag Yunomi
This cup began with a simple gesture — fingers swiped through wet glaze, leaving marks that would either disappear or become something in the fire. Then wood ash, sifted over the surface like powder settling into the grooves. What happens next is never entirely up to me: how the ash and glaze interact depends on thickness, humidity, where the cup sits in the kiln, how the reduction moves through the chamber. This firing ran light on reduction, so the zigzag marks are quieter than usual — more suggestion than statement. I find I like that. The restraint feels right for this form.

Wheel-thrown stoneware with layered shino glaze and wood ash surface, single fired to cone 10. The finger-swipe technique creates the zigzag pattern beneath the ash; no two pieces from this process come out the same. 4" tall, 16 oz capacity. Food safe, dishwasher safe.
